Welcome to Cozumel Getaways, where getting away from it all feels like coming home . . . to paradise.

About Us : Things to Do

One thing’s for sure: you’ll never lack for something to do while visiting Cozumel. No matter what your vacationing style — active and adventurous or take it easy and relax — there’s something for everyone.

Here are just a few of the most popular places to visit and things to see while you’re on the island:

Fiesta – Every Sunday night on the Square

A free open-air concert is held every Sunday evening from 7-10 p.m. in the main square (behind Las Palmeras Restaurant). Local bands provide the evening entertainment. Food and beverages are sold on the square. Tourists are welcome to join the locals for an evening of music and dancing.

Chankanaab National Park

Chankanaab’s principle attraction is the Chankanaab Lagoon, Mayan for “small sea.” The result of erosion by rain and sea, the lagoon has one of the word’s most unique ecosystems. The amazingly clear water allows clear viewing of the lagoon’s coral reef and the large numbers of colorful fish that move between the lagoon and the ocean through two underwater caves. Not surprisingly, Chankanaab Lagoon is one of the island’s best spots for swimming, snorkeling and shallow scuba diving. You can even swim with the dolphins at the new Dolphin Discovery Center!

And when you’re ready to get out of the water, Chankanaab’s archaeological park offers insights into the lives and culture of the ancient Mayans and features 60 exact replicas of Mayan stonework. A lush botanical garden adds to the park’s exotic feel.

Parque Punta Sur

An ecological park and nature preserve that occupies the island’s southernmost point, Punta Sur offers visitors the chance to see hundreds of bird and animal species indigenous to Cozumel, including turtles, crocodiles and egrets.

The area has been inhabited since Prehispanic times, and visitors can see ruins of what archaeologists believe was once a Mayan lighthouse. Or, climb the 130 steps to the observation deck of the current lighthouse for a breathtaking view.

Punta Sur also offers one of Cozumel’s best beaches and a prime snorkeling spot. You can also take a jungle excursion or a boat tour to see the magnificent lagoons and mangrove swamps.

Museo de la Isla de Cozumel

Located in downtown San Miguel, in what was originally Cozumel’s first luxury hotel, the museum’s four large exhibit rooms tell the story of the island’s history, people and wildlife. If you’re a first time visitor to Cozumel, the museum is definitely worth a visit.

The Island Museum also contains a public library, an auditorium, a bookstore and a couple of handicrafts stores. On the top floor, a terraced restaurant and coffee shop offer a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea.

San Gervasio

Experience the wonder and mysteries of the Mayan civilization firsthand by visiting San Gervasio, the largest archaeological site on the island. Once an important religious, commercial, cultural, and political center, San Gervasio was inhabited from about 200 AD until the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. You’ll see intricate engravings and a diverse number of architectural ruins.

If you’re interested in seeing more Mayan artifacts, there are day tours from Cozumel to the spectacular mainland city ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum.

Playa Sol

A family-focused, all-inclusive beach club, Playa Sol offers visitors unlimited use of its many water activities for the price of admission. Scuba dive or snorkel among the reefs or through the sunken city of Mayan World. Experience the thrill of parasailing, water skiing, or riding a wave runner. Or jump onto a water bike or kayak.

Kids will love Playa Sol’s many games and activities, including the small zoo. And parents will love the clean white sand beaches, excellent restaurant and bar, and comfortable, shady hammocks.

Chankanaab Park is the largest monument to nature in Cozumel. In 1980 it was decreed as a National Park and an area for shelter, refuge and protection for flora and marine fauna on the Eastern Coast of Cozumel Island. A must see when visiting Cozumel.

Mr. Sancho's is a beach park with something for everyone. If you come to Mexico for the tantalizing food, then Mr. Sancho's will wet your appetite. Enjoy a massage in the Caribbean breeze, a glass bottom boat ride, dive, snorkel and more.

Swim with the dolphins at Chankanaab National Marine Park and you will be surprised by the great intelligence and friendliness of these wonderful marine mammals.
