About
Us : Eating
No vacation is complete without great food, and Cozumel
is no exception. The many restaurants offer everything from pizza
and
pasta to traditional
Yucatan dishes like lime soup, pork sandwiches and empanadas. There’s
something to suit every palate and satisfy every appetite. And
naturally the seafood is as fresh as can be.
Nearly all the restaurants use purified bottled water and ice,
but feel free to ask if there’s any doubt.
Here are a few of our favorite places to dine out in Cozumel:
- Restaurant Museo is located above the Cozumel Museum on Avenue
Rafael E. Melgar between 6th and 8th. Open from 7 am to 2 pm,
Restaurant Museo only serves breakfast, but the food is good
and the view of the harbor is exquisite.
- La Mission is located on 55th and offers
good food, great service and an unbelievable ambiance.
Situated next to a historic mansion, the beautifully manicured
grounds cover about one city block. You’ll feel like you’re
walking onto the set of a movie! A small zoo allows the kids
to see a few lions, monkeys, birds etc. Dinner for two costs
around
$60.00.
- Guido’s Restaurant is located on Avenue
Rafael E. Melgar 23 between 6th and
8th. All this Italian restaurant’s dishes are very good,
particularly the lasagna, pasta and shrimp, and pizza. Dinner
for two costs around $60.00.
- Jeanie’s Waffle House is located on
Avenue Rafael E. Melgar Ave and 11th Street between 9th and 11th.
Specializing in breakfast served around the clock, Jeanie’s
serves good
waffles, pancakes and other gringo dishes. Breakfast for two
is around $20.00.
- Ernesto’s Fajitas Factory has two locations:
at 141 Rafael E. Melgar, and at the
International Pier - Carretera Sur Km. 4. Breakfast is served
from 7 am to 1 pm, and lunch and dinner are served from 11 am
to 11
pm. This Tex-mex restaurant serves great fajitas and other
dishes at very affordable prices.
- Prima Pasta is located at 109 Ave. Rosado
Salas. Open from 4 pm to 11 pm, this rooftop garden restaurant
specializes
in Italian
seafood and pasta. Great atmosphere.

Here are a few other restaurants some of our guests have recommended:
- Chely's Loncheria is located on the west
side of the Mercado Centro on Salas between 20th and 25th. Run
by Daisy and her husband
Estaban,
Chely’s is open from 7 am to 9 pm. The filete de pescado
is really outstanding. Ask Daisy to make her famous guacamole — it’s
outrageously good. Dinner for two runs about $10.00.
- El Pique Taco House is located cross the street from the Francis
of Assisi Market on 30th Ave. It serves some of the best tacos
on the island, as well as an excellent frijoles dish. Dinner
for two is about $10.00.
- La Conchita Seafood is located on 65th Street
between 23rd and 25th. It serves really good, really fresh
seafood. Dinner for two,
with drinks, costs around $15.
- El Laurel is located on 11th Street between
25th and 30th, just about a half block south of the Retranca
Market near Cozumel Getaways.
This small eatery features only about six tables in the rear
of the convenience store that the family operates. All the food
is
cooked in the family kitchen and offerings vary daily. No matter
the dish, though, it is always delicious. Lunch for two costs
around $10.00.
- La Verenda Restaurant and Bar is located on 4th Street between
5th and 10th Avenue. Hosted and owned by Ernesto and Jan, they
use only the best ingredients, have a great chef, and turn out
delicious, creative dishes. Dinner for two with drinks, appetizer,
entree, and dessert costs around $100.00—and it’s
worth every penny!
